Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct healthcare profession rooted in the Principles of Naturopathic Medicine. With a focus on whole-person wellness, it combines the wisdom of traditional medicine with evidence-based modern science to prevent, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions. Naturopathic medicine uses the least harmful and most effective approaches to stimulate our bodies’ innate self-healing mechanisms. Each treatment is personalized.
Naturopathic physicians who graduated from an accredited program are trained as primary care doctors. The curricula of these programs cover more than biomedical knowledge, diagnostic modalities, and pharmacological interventions utilized by medical doctors (MDs) and osteopathic doctors (DOs). They also include training in nutrition, western botanical medicine, counseling, and physical medicine.
Primary Care
We offer routine check-ups, acute visits, and management of chronic conditions. An initial visit to establish care will take about 60 minutes while follow-up visits are typically 30-45 minutes, depending on complexity. Our goal is to treat the root cause of the current symptoms and to prevent future disorders. We will collaborate with your other healthcare providers to deliver lasting results.
Pain Management
Pain management is more than the reduction of pain. Pain can affect many aspects of our lives. Utilizing a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, herbs, and physical medicine modalities, we hope to restore function and mobility for those living with either acute or chronic pain and improve their overall quality of life. Diagnostic imaging and referrals to relevant specialists are often incorporated to provide a holistic approach to pain management.
Disclaimer: due to a limited scope of practice, naturopathic physicians cannot prescribe any scheduled pain medications.
Mental Health
The intersection of our identities, our upbringing, and our lived experiences shape how we relate to each other and to the rest of the world. Despite our best effort, there are situations that can make us feel sad, anxious, worried, fearful, or frustrated and want additional support. We offer tools to help you orient yourself and manage stressful circumstances by exploring the body-mind connection and being curious about how our pasts inform the present. Although not a replacement for therapy and prescribed medications, we strive to build lifelong skills together that will help you thrive.
